Maunsell Retires from African Distillers Board After 23 Years of Service

 

African Distillers Limited has announced the retirement of long-serving Non-Executive Director Robert Maunsell, bringing to a close more than two decades of service to the beverages manufacturer.

In a notice issued by the company, the board confirmed that Maunsell’s retirement became effective on March 31, 2026, after 23 years on the board, having joined in August 2003.

The company credited Maunsell with playing a significant governance and oversight role during his tenure, including serving on several board committees.

“The Board of Directors of African Distillers Limited announces the retirement of Mr Robert H. M. Maunsell, effective 31 March 2026,” the company said in a statement. “The Board acknowledges his exemplary leadership and significant contribution to the Company over 23 years of service as a Non-Executive Director.”

During his time with the company, Maunsell served on key governance structures, notably the Audit Committee and the General-Purpose Committee, contributing to corporate oversight and strategic direction.

The board, management and staff expressed appreciation for his dedication and institutional knowledge accumulated over more than two decades.

“The Board, Management, and Staff extend their sincere appreciation for his commitment and dedication throughout his tenure and wish him every success in his future endeavours,” the statement added.

The retirement marks the end of one of the longest-serving directorships at African Distillers, a company that has undergone significant operational and market shifts within Zimbabwe’s beverages sector over the past two decades.
